Chris resides in Winnipeg, Canada. He has always been an outdoor enthusiast. In 2000 he changed from a hunter to a gatherer of nature and wildlife photographs. An event in his life at that time made him understand just how precious life was to all living creatures and the power of nature.
A trip to Kenya in 2001 was the catalyst that has become his passion.
Chris is a self taught photographer but owes most of his photographic knowledge to Nikonians.org. This internet community gave him the understanding and feedback he needed to advance his photographic journey.
Chris enjoys being able to travel the world and bring back images for others to see. Giving others the opportunity to envision the world and its inhabitants is what “Shades of Gray” is all about. Africa is his special place in the world. Maybe it has to do with the saying “Africa, Mother of us all”. He is often heard saying “Everything about Africa is so compelling”.
His images have been published in school text books, and internet sites. With the introduction of this site, his work is now open to everyone.
